Facts for Friends and Funders

OVERVIEW
The Napili Community Garden is open to the public to grow food organically, exercise while communing with nature, and build community. We offer three different types of garden areas, Single Plots (annual crops), Double Plots (perennial crops), and Community-Farm Plots (collective management of crops). Members pay a nominal fee for water expenses, rent and insurance.

The Napili Community Garden organizing council is made up of an enthusiastic and engaged group of gardeners who have been busy building infrastructure and are currently in the process of formalizing the structure and governance of our community organization.

Ulupono Initiative has generously subleased a 3.6 acre of land just above Honoapi’ilani Hwy for use as the Napili Community Garden. The garden is located on former pineapple lands that have been out of production for a sufficient period of time to be eligible for organic certification.

GIVING TO OUR GARDEN
The Napili Community Garden is a charitable project of Tri-Isle RC&D Council, Incorporated, a 501(c)(3); nonprofit.

The Napili Community Garden has a donations account with Tri-Isle allowing compliance with IRS reporting requirements. All checks should be made payable to Tri-Isle RC&D Council, Incorporated. To ensure the money is properly credited to NCG, “Napili Community Garden” must be written on the memo line.

Non-cash donations of equipment and supplies will be directly accepted. An IRS deduction letter can be sent for all donations. For non-cash donations, please provide fair market value.

NEW EARTH SYSTEMS
A nature-inspired integrated sustainable ag system that provides an engaging learning focus at the garden

EDUCATION CENTER
Integral to our Community-Farm plots is the educational center featuring New Earth Systems. This highly productive approach to integrated agriculture teaches how to mimic natural material flows while cultivating food crops. The technique blends aquaculture, aquaponics, vermiculture, aggressive aerobic, composting, and waste management. Outputs include nutrient dense foods, soil building and power generated through wind, solar, and water technologies.

The garden’s New Earth Systems educational center will serve as an outdoor classroom that incorporates hands-on teaching tools like water wheels, solar panels, worm bins, show-tanks and various composting stages. We are currently seeking supplies and/or donations to finish the infrastructure.
